The awards

Each month from December 2026, Interstack gives two awards: Story of the month (£40) and Most helpful member (£25). Prizes are paid in pounds, or the same value in the winner's currency.

Free to enter, open worldwide

There is nothing to buy or pay. Every Interstack member is considered automatically, wherever they live, as long as they:

  • have confirmed their email address, and had their account for at least 14 days by the end of the month;
  • are not suspended and have no open report against them;
  • are not an Interstack admin;
  • haven't won an award in the last 6 months;
  • were active that month: at least 2 of the monthly checklist's three goals (1 story going live, 3 thoughts shared, 3 people connected with). Members can see their checklist on their home page.

You must be old enough to accept a prize where you live. If the law where you live doesn't allow you to take part, you can't win.

How winners are picked

After each month ends, the Interstack team picks the winners. A shortlist is made from what happened that month (for stories: comments, claps and reads; for helpfulness: thank-you notes, vouches and replies to others), but people choose, not numbers. Story of the month goes to a story that went live that month. We look for stories that are honest, specific and useful, and help that made a real difference. Our decision is final.

Being told, and saying yes

We tell winners on Interstack. You have 7 days to accept and say how you'd like to be paid. If you don't reply in time or say no, the award goes to someone else. We only name winners who accept.

Prizes

We pay by a gift card of your choice that works where you live, or by bank transfer if you prefer, usually within 14 days of you accepting. We message you on Interstack to arrange it, and never store bank details on the site. Prizes can't be swapped for anything else, and any tax on them is the winner's to deal with.

Fair play

Thank-you notes and vouches between people linked by an invite, or from new accounts, don't count towards the shortlist. If we find anyone trying to game the awards, or a winner breaking the community rules, we can withdraw the award and pick someone else.

Changes

We may change or end the awards. Any month already over is still judged and paid as these terms say.
