About the role
At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. Lyft Urban Solutions designs, builds, and operates bikeshare systems in more than 50 cities worldwide, including New York, Chicago, London, Barcelona, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and Montréal. Our Longueuil facility is the birthplace of BIXI, North America's first automated bikeshare system, and today builds the bikes and stations behind some of the world's largest bikeshare networks. We are looking for a Hardware Field Quality Engineer Intern to join our Field Quality team at our Longueuil facility. Once our bikes, e-bikes, batteries, and stations leave the factory, Field Quality owns how they hold up in the real world: millions of rides, all four seasons, in cities across the globe. You will work alongside field quality engineers to help spot emerging hardware issues, investigate their root cause, and support fixes with engineering, manufacturing, and market operations teams. You will spend time hands-on with failed parts in the lab, and just as much time in the data working out how big a problem really is. Responsibilities: Support failure analysis on parts returned from the field, including requests from enterprise customers, by helping with teardown, inspection, and electrical testing and documenting findings with photos. Help monitor field data, such as vehicle and station alerts and repair records, and flag emerging issues to the team. Build and update dashboards and queries that track reliability metrics and retrofit progress. Assist with field retrofit campaigns by helping identify affected units and tracking progress. Help review repair SOPs and troubleshooting guides used by market mechanics, and suggest improvements. Contribute to field failure investigations in Jira, working with engineers on root cause and corrective actions. Experience: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field, at a Canadian university, graduating between December 2027 and summer 2028 (required). Master's students who worked between degrees should have less than 2 years of full-time experience. Professional proficiency in French and English, written and spoken (required) Hands-on comfort with electromechanical hardware, including disassembly, inspection, and basic electrical troubleshooting with tools like a multimeter Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large, imperfect datasets to reach clear conclusions Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods (5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, 8D, FMEA) Curious and detail-oriented, with clear written communication Previous internship or co-op in quality, reliability, test, or failure analysis is a plus SQL or Python, and experience with Mode, Hex, Tableau, or Power BI, is a plus Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing tools is a plus Exposure to e-bikes, batteries, automotive, or other electromechanical products, or to reading wiring diagrams, is a plus Benefits...
